I have a lovely memory of being in Ottawa and taking a bus to see my sister in Toronto. I had picked up and old dime science fiction novel and read a fair bit if it on the trip. It was magic to be in s totally new place yet feel almost perfect comfort. Thanks for your note Malcolm, I hope you enjoy your drive in the country!

Thank you this Lief..... With what I've learned and having friends go off medication, I think back to first being in recovery and realizing that when you're ill and then go back on meds or initially go on medication that there's a long process of reestablishing neural pathways - positive neural pathways as you say to get to baseline! Maybe if one goes off meds and get psychotics there is brain damage but I would like to frame it as having a harder time to reestablish neural pathways. As I said positive neural pathways. Even though I'm a huge fan of audiobooks, I never thought of just going by myself for a drive in the country and listening to one... If I'm on a mission, sometimes I listen to an audiobook such as driving to Ottawa, which is a 2-hour drive from Kingston, but I never thought of just going for a country drive which is quite easy in the Kingston area and listening to an audiobook. I've decided to not entirely but to a large extent. Be a hermit during the month of July. I'm rereading for the second or third time flourish by Martin Seligman, psych by Paul Bloom and the power of character strengths by Ryan Niemiec and Robert McGrath..... Already this is leading to other articles and excerpts.... We're coming up to Canada July 1st and the 4th of July, so it's a perfect time for a drive in the country. I enjoyed your article. I hope to maybe do another post on my sub stack today or tomorrow.
