In this podcast and blog, I offer some harsh truths to people with schizophrenia, but I am hoping that this will be seen not as ignorance, but a call to action.
Thanks for the podcast, Leif. There were may points of interest in it. One that I'll note, is the paranoia around the cell phone that you had. There have been times in my life, when ill, where I have bought 3-4 different phones (always convinced it was being used to spy on me).
Hi Mat. I find it interesting how people with schizophrenia do similar things while in psychosis. Have you ever seen 12 Monkeys with Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis? Pitt does an amazing job of portraying someone with schizophrenia and the whole plot revolves around common delusions such as time travel and tracking people with special fillings in their teeth. Thanks for tuning in Mat, remember if you get a paid subscription I will send digital copies of my three mental health journey books, but keep in touch either way, I love hearing feedback!
Leif, I don't think I want to subscribe, but might be interested in reading your books. Can they found on Amazon? Are there Kindle versions? As far as 12 Monkeys, I may have seen part of that many years ago, before the onset of my symptoms. I find that sometimes movies on schizophrenia are too triggering for me. That was the case with "Beautiful Mind" with Russell Crowe. When they were showing scenes where he thought he was interacting with the CIA, it was just way too triggering. I had to stop watching. Anyway, not sure if you're interested in those details but thought I would share. Have a great day.
Hi Mat. I'm definutely interested in hearing how you feel. I wasn't big on A Beautiful Mind but I do like Russel Crowe and Jennifer Connelly. As fsr as my books go, I am happy to send you signed paperbacks. If money is an issue, please let me know and I could possibly email you .pdf files. Thanks for getting back to me and I hope you have a lovely Spring!
