Hello Good Readers and viewers! This is my first attempt at a video podcast. Please bear with me as I learn the ins and outs of podcasts. In this video, I discuss some of the main symptoms and warning signs that a person you love may be experiencing schizophrenia and what process to go through to help them. I want to thank Dr. Xavier Amador, who wrote the groundbreaking book, “I’m Not Sick, I Don’t Need Help” which is the story of how he got his brother to accept a diagnosis of schizophrenia and go into treatment. I got to v-meet Dr. Amador and was blown away by his presentation, and after giving the talk, he offered a free copy of his book to everyone who was in attendance. As I mention in my v-log, I am planning to dig up the book and read it again in detail, and I will do a basic book review of it here.
In this video, I explain a few things about the illness. In my next video, I would like to continue where I left off and give more information about having a loved one with the illness, then I would like to describe a course offered in many clinics called WRAP which stands for Wellness Recovery Action Plan. I am very excited to begin this new stage of my writing and publishing career. For those of you who would like to watch a short mini-documentary of me, written and directed by myself and Sam Brooks of my local Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) offices, and on the grounds of Alberta Hospital, I will link it below. Thanks so much for coming on board with me!
